Dutch Air Force unveils Lockheed Martin F-35 IOC
FINAL :
The Dutch Ministry of Defense and the Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) have officially declared the F-35A Squadron Initial Combat Capability (IOC). With this announcement, the Netherlands declared the IOC of the F-35 fleet the 8th country and 12th military service.
The F-35 is the most advanced fighter ever built, giving the RNLAF unprecedented air superiority. With few sensors and observable technology, the F-35 can perform flawlessly in ambiguous airspace and can integrate the battlefield views of other air, ground and naval forces. The F-35 combines advanced weapon capabilities with excellent range for unrivaled combat capabilities. The F-35 will enable the RNLAF to protect the national interests of the Netherlands and will facilitate missions to contain important regional allies in the coming decades.
Bridget Lauderdale, Vice President and General Manager of the F-35 Program, said: "I am proud of the Lockheed Martin team's commitment to providing our partners in the Netherlands with the most effective, defensive and connected fighters."
A total of 24 F-35As have been delivered to RNLAF, and the RNLAF crew has exceeded 9,085 flight hours to date, with 55 pilots and 262 maintenance personnel serving the fleet.
